Post by: marlo on July 29, 2014, 11:32:14 AM
Hey guys,
I have seen a thread on mp3Car where Steve is coding on an frontend for Android.
http://www.mp3car.com/android/156929-new-frontend-digital-car-for-android-download.html (http://www.mp3car.com/android/156929-new-frontend-digital-car-for-android-download.html).

Hi Steve,

thanks for your coding. I would prefer a stable Version of FreeIce
for Windows. It could be nice to have Android on my CarPC, but Android
doesn't run on X86 PC and I will not build up a new CarPC based on
Android.

Sorry again for my bad english.

Best regards,
Tim

Is anyone here, who knows Steve in person, to persuade him into coding on free ice again?

There are a few of us who know him in person.

But I'm not sure we can persuade him to carry on coding something he has moved on from.

You are right but I think it doesn`t hurt to ask.
Maybe Android is the future but I am very pleased with my car pc install and I don`t want to throw away all my hardware just for Android.

I like free ice a lot and I think it is a shame to let this frontend die.

I asked around for them a while ago, but no one answered. I was looking to try and get FI going again.

in my opinion the code was already "stable" i was working on a skin and with coding there was the possibility to build something nice, but i guess the main problem was the lack of "plugins" solutions for phone, dvb, and so on.
Like every front-end the main problem is the lack of support for working complete solutions, and also lack of applications, right now android i guess is the only to have extended support, i hope to see a finished product
